Smashing zombies has always been a captivating experience, a theme popularized by series like The Walking Dead and video games such as World War Z, Days Gone, and The Last of Us. Arizona Sunshine 2, however, elevates this experience, especially on the PSVR2, becoming the top choice for virtual zombie annihilation. The anticipation for this sequel was high, given Vertigo Games' success with the original and their later enhancement of enemy dynamics in After The Fall.

In this sequel, you continue as the protagonist from the first game, determined to eliminate the originator of the zombie outbreak. This journey is made more compelling by the addition of a canine sidekick named Buddy. Buddy not only aids in combat and fetches items but also adds emotional depth to the narrative. The story, while simple, effectively propels you through various zombie-infested settings. Highlights of the 12-hour campaign include thrilling scenarios, though the game could benefit from more diverse environments. The repetitive nature of some levels, like the sewer stages, somewhat dims the excitement.

The game shines with its realistic reloading mechanics, thanks to the PSVR2’s advanced controller tracking. Mastering various weapons becomes a fun and intense part of gameplay, particularly during high-pressure situations with encroaching zombie hordes. Shooting in Arizona Sunshine 2 is exemplary, with a level of control and precision that rivals, and in some cases surpasses, games like Pavlov VR. The variety of weapons, each with unique handling and impact, adds to the game's immersive experience.

Cooperative play is a significant feature, enhancing the fun and interactivity of the campaign and Horde Mode. The game's cross-platform capability broadens the potential for multiplayer engagement. Interactive elements in the game's levels contribute greatly to the VR immersion. However, these creative aspects are used sparingly, which feels like a missed opportunity.

The game does encounter some technical issues, including crashes and frame rate limitations that don't fully leverage the PSVR2’s capabilities. The decision to prioritize compatibility with other headsets seems to constrain the game’s potential on the PSVR2.

Graphically, Arizona Sunshine 2 is impressive, though some flaws are noticeable upon closer inspection. The focus on gore is well executed, allowing for detailed encounters with zombie remains.

Despite its technical shortcomings, Arizona Sunshine 2 stands out as a stellar VR experience. It enhances its predecessor in graphics, narrative, and gameplay. With its engaging campaign, variety of difficulty settings, and promising expansions, it is a must-have for PSVR2 enthusiasts
